Where does a stacking frame win over a rack?
Rented rooms, line-side buffers and low or temporary buildings where a rack is either not owned or not worth installing; if the space is permanent and the plan is long, a rack is usually the better capital decision.

A stacking frame is a freestanding, collapsible steel unit with a wire or sheet base that is stacked directly on the frame below, storing goods in place of a rack when the room neither owns nor wants permanent racking.
No rack is the point: the frame carries its own stack and its own footprint through the door, so a rented room or a line-side buffer becomes a three- or four-high store on the same floor it stood on, folded flat when the site moves on.
Quantised storage that moves
Because each frame is a fixed, labelled volume, goods can be stored in set quantities and dispatched as whole frames — a measurable control point in a rented or makeshift area where a permanent pick face would be a waste. The stack is its own inventory unit, so batch tracking rides on the frame rather than on a location number that the room will not keep.
The return leg
A fixed rack costs nothing to be empty, but a stacking frame is freight: it must earn its space on the outbound and stack flat on the return.
