Why register molds on drawers at all?
Molds are the most expensive small object a plant owns and spend most of a day idle, so how they are parked directly sets retrieval time and accident rate; a drawer gives each one a labelled, finger-reachable home instead of a stack under a crane swing.

Mold racking stores tooling on pull-out drawers rather than fixed shelves, so each mold is inspected and lifted by a crane from the exposed drawer face without reaching past neighbouring tooling.
The drawer is the ergonomics: a mold weighing hundreds of kilos sits on a bearing drawer that comes straight out under the crane, so the operator meets it at the face rather than levering it out of a dark shelf — which is the difference between a strapped back and a repeatable routine.
Why drawers instead of shelves
A mold is dense, irregular and handled tens of times in its life between press, inspection and return; a fixed shelf makes you pull it past its neighbours and crane it from a dark recess, while a drawer carries the tool straight out to the aisle on its own rail. The rating is per drawer and the class choice — light versus heavy — matches the runner weight you actually turn, so the rack grows with the tooling it stores instead of predating a building plan.
When the drawer alone is not enough
A single drawer exposes the tool for a top-mounted crane, but above a certain runner weight even the slide becomes the problem — which is when the optional top gantry takes the lift over the exposed face. The two go together: drawers for the horizontal travel that a crane cannot give, gantry for the vertical travel that a human must not.
